Nutella Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies

Sometimes when I imagine what heaven will be like, I’m pretty sure there’s going to be streets made of Nutella, or at least fountains of it. That’s how amazing this stuff is, and it’s even better when you stuff it into a cookie. These cookies may get a little messy when you’re making them, but they are worth all the mess. This post also marks the debut of my new KitchenAid mixer. She’s beautiful isn’t she?IMG_8596IMG_8590IMG_8598IMG_8613IMG_8604IMG_8607

  • 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter
  • 1 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg plus 1 egg yolk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips ( i used mini)
  • 1 jar of Nutella, chilled in refrigerator

  1. In a small bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt together. Set aside.
  2. Next, in a small saucepan, melt your butter. Continue melting and browning it until you get a nutty golden brown color and tiny brown specks.
  3. With an electric mixer, mix the butter and sugars until thoroughly blended. Beat in the egg, yolk, and vanilla until combined. Add the dry ingredients slowly and beat on low-speed just until combined. Gently fold in all of the chocolate chips.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Take about 1 1/2 tablespoons of dough and roll into a ball. Flatten the dough ball very thinly into the palm of your hand. Place 1 teaspoon of chilled nutella in the middle and fold dough around it; gently roll into a ball — it doesn’t have to be perfectly rolled! You can choose to have the nutella seeping out of the dough or you can also have it completely hidden within the dough. Place dough balls on cookie sheet, 2 inches apart and flatten with your hand VERY gently.
  5. Bake the cookies 9-11 minutes or until the edges of the cookies begin to turn golden brown. They will look a bit underdone in the middle, but will continue to cook once out of the oven. Cool the cookies on the sheets at least 2 minutes. Remove the cooled cookies from the baking sheets after a few minutes and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Paul knew what it meant to lose one’s life for the sake of Christ….

3 We put no obstacle in anyone’s way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry, 4 but as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: by great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities, 5 beatings, imprisonments, riots, labors, sleepless nights, hunger; 6 by purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, the Holy Spirit,genuine love; 7 by truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left; 8 through honor and dishonor, through slander and praise. We are treated as impostors, and yet are true; 9 as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as punished, and yet not killed; 10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything. {2 Corinthians 6:3-10}
